The used activated carbon can be regenerated and reused reasonably.
Activated carbon regeneration is the reactivation of fully adsorbed activated carbon after treatment under certain conditions.
1. Introduction:
The so-called activated carbon regeneration actually refers to the operation and method of bringing changes in the external environment of activated carbon through external stimulation, so as to reactivate the active components and achieve the purpose of reuse. With the wide attention of the activated carbon industry and the development in the market, activated carbon has been applied in various fields of life.
2. Method:
Heating regeneration method: the regeneration process of used activated carbon is generally divided into three stages: drying, high-temperature carbonization and activation according to the changes of organic matter when heated to different temperatures. In the drying stage, the volatile components on the activated carbon are mainly removed. The high-temperature carbonization stage is to make part of the organic matter adsorbed on the activated carbon boil, vaporize and desorb, part of the organic matter undergo decomposition reaction, generate small molecular hydrocarbons and desorb, and the residual components remain in the pores of the activated carbon to become "fixed carbon".
At this stage, the temperature will reach 800 ~ 900 ° C. in order to avoid the oxidation of activated carbon, it is generally carried out under vacuum or inert atmosphere. In the next activation stage, gases such as CO2, Co, H2 or steam are introduced into the reactor to clean the micropores of activated carbon and restore its adsorption performance. The activation stage is the key of the whole regeneration process. Although the thermal regeneration method has the characteristics of high regeneration efficiency and wide application range, it needs additional energy heating in the regeneration process, and the investment and operation cost are high.
